Garden of Eatin' Team Leaders

To all the children, David is simply known as Gardener Dave.  David designs and builds the gardens and directs the nutrition garden programs.  His work at the Garden of Eatin' Project allows David to combine two life-long passions, one for organic gardening and the other a joy teaching children.  According to David, "In today's world nothing is more important than caring for our children's future."  David invites any parent or garden-friend to come and work in the gardens.  David hopes to expand the project to as many Early childhood Centers as possible.  As David so often says, "Now more than ever, every child needs a garden."  It seems to be the best way to help  kids make healthy choices.

 

Christine Berman, MPH, RD is the Garden of Eatin's nutritionist.

Christine has twenty years experience as the senior nutritionist for Head Start Marin nutrition for other early childhood centers.  She is the author of Meals Without Squeals, a child care feeding guide and cookbook.  Christine works with the staff to develop and implement classroon activities using healthy foods and she send home recipes and child feeding information on a regular basis to parents.  Her two kids grew up to be enthusiastic vegetables eaters in spite of her years of worry!
