Half Day Preschool

The Tinker Way Half Day Preschool program provides a three hour morning class from 9:00am-Noon, serving children ages 2 years 9 months to age 5 years.  This class is a state funded, subsidized program staffed by three teachers with a staff to child ratio of 1:8.

The developmentally appropriate curriculum is written and implemented to support all the preschool milestones necessary for eventual entry into Kindergarten.  Desired Results/Desired Progress (DRDP) assessments are done at regular intervals to measure learning outcomes.

There are many planned activities throughout the day including circle times, math, art, science, reading and dramatic play.  There is an emphasis on Early Language and Literacy, all necessary to build pre-reading skills in children.  There is at least one bilingual staff member in this class, as is the case with most of NBCC’s other programs.  A mid morning snack is provided as the children go home for lunch.
