Social distancing and hand washing - Top two rules we are currently living with. While we can't soften the distance between each other, we can help you to soften your hands as you wash them on a regular basis. Here's NBCC's Garden of Eatin' recipe for a gentle hand balm you can make at home.
Ingredients
1 oz. beeswax pellets
1 oz. shea butter
4 oz. olive oil
10-20 drops essential oil of desired scent, e.g Lemon or Lavender
Directions
Place beeswax in a double boiler and gently warm over low heat until the beeswax melts.
Add olive oil and shea butter stir over low heat until well-mixed.
Remove from heat and add the essential oil(s).
Quickly pour warm mixture into clean tins, jars, tubes and allow to cool completely.
Store in a cool location for 1 to 3 years.
This is a very basic hand balm recipe with many easy variations. If you prefer a more creamy and softer texture, increase the amount of shea butter or decrease the amount beeswax. Experiment using different types of oils. Add or decrease the quantity of essential oil based on the desired aroma.

NBCC is blessed to have such good friends!
Yesterday our friend, Mark Enlow donated 100 lbs. of chicken to the children’s center. That’s enough chicken to serve the children and center staff for several weeks! We called on our friend Chef Brenda Anderson Lanoue who is stepping up to volunteer and help us with meal planning.… and she did not disappoint! With a little greens from the garden, we served a five-star meal.
Thank you Mark and Brenda for always going above and beyond.

At least one thing has been extremely clear in this difficult time of Shelter in Place: CHILD CARE IS ESSENTIAL and early childhood educators are a crucial part of our community’s fabric. We ❤️ our NBCC Teachers who are “essential service providers” reporting for duty.

Currently in Marin County, NBCC is working with Marin’s EOC on providing emergency child care for our medical community so that Doctors and Nurses can be on the healthcare front lines. In Sonoma County, we’re ready to do the same for Sonoma’s EOC while keeping our families engaged and connecting them with resources for food, diapers and other critical services.
